Finally drew the whole evil little family together to see how they look together and if my various concepts work together and are balanced with Du'met's design(sort of winged it on josh tho)

I was thinking "Oh I'm too tired to colour it fully so I'll just add some in the back to make it pop" and well Hector being so tall made it a pain 😅

Oh believe me I have and it resulted in the josh Du'met and further evil little family au

The basic idea is that the way until dawn went down there were no monsters and Josh after faking his death set out and succeeded in killing everyone but gets his parents use their influence to bury the truth having the official story be that all of them including him died in the fire and nothing else happened. After which the legally dead josh Washington is kept in isolation and Du'met being a resourceful man finds out about him and finds a way to communicate with him, over a period of time Josh comes to trust him as his only connection to the outside world and eventually he makes him an offer

So the Washingtons mysteriously die/disappear and the Du'met family gains a new member, this happens in early 2017 around the time of the construction crew but there are certainly other differences in this timeline but regardless josh does have time to adjust after five years of being 'dead'

Ultimately he takes up the identity of Victor/Vic Du'met rather than filling the role of Granthem Du'met he portrays himself as the son of the castle's owner(he is about the right age) who helps his father with his dream of keeping the place operational(too bad for the guests that they aim to do so authentically)

One common joke about this au is Josh blasting modern music over the speakers and being very fortunate that he's more or less been adopted by Mr serious murder man and can get away with that type of thing lol

Imagine if Mr Du'met from TDIM and Josh from Until Dawn worked together.

Du'met might be impressed if not inspired by Josh's creative traps, appreciating his artistry. Du'met might even give him pointers about the wiring and mechanical aspects.

Josh, on the other hand, could give Du'met people advice, teaching him how to swoon people in his favour so he doesn't have to rely on hostages to lure people in. Josh might even take up the role of Du'met when meeting people because of his open and cheerful attitude.

Josh might sit at the cameras and control the corridors as Du'met chases his prey, talking to him through an earpiece.

"Yo, Mr D. We got someone wandering down hall number 4. Gonna swing them by your route"

✨Restoration✨

So given the recent noise around the psycho mask and me having the relavent screenshot, I figured that I'd make an attempt at restoring the mask to what it may have looked whole, ultimately I found that I wanted to keep some of the damage around the eyes and may have left a little more if I decided earlier but other than fixing the cracks I gave him a whole nose and lips, I know it's a little anatomically strange but I'm letting it slide as he is a clown and all

I'm also going to put this on the relevant tdim tags as I consider this the look for my murder castle au and how I feel Du'met would alter the design to fit into his Victorian era aesthetics

Art, murder and tea parties

She's out here taking her brother's favourite toys because that's what sisters do✨

I actually drew this the other day, decided I didn't want to follow up the knife post with living Sherman with the animatronics Sherman because it'd be like he got stabbed pretty effectively and then I forgot about it but here's her listening to those old types because apparently that's just a thing to do in Du'met's castle lol

She's out here a sixty something sitting on the table and she's put a tea cup in Sherman's smoking hand so tea will likely be spilled directly(also her mask would prevent her from drinking anyway lol), she is absolutely fascinated by it all

Also josh is here because it's the evil little family timeline and I'm sure his sisters took his stuff too lol

And yes I recognise that Megan can't see them because of the interrogation room set up but you get their reactions anyway

So now that I've made progress on the rest I've finally gotten around to attempting the tdim twist on Josh's psycho mask, like realistically I don't think it really needed to change but this is supposed to be Du'met's version that fits with his aesthetic and I was like damn let's put those teeth away(also I went back and forth on half or full and I'm thinking Josh's mask has a detachable lower half but is full in the picture), so in a way this is meant to be cohesive with the rest of the evil little family set but still mostly close to the original and I'm a little torn about the full outfit because overalls sort of like that did exist back in the Victorian era but everyone else is fancier and I'm thinking I at least have to try a more refined look

OK so I was thinking about the josh Du'met au and it occurred to me that despite being presumed dead he might still want an alias beyond the last name

And then I was thinking about how his psycho persona is technically called Victor Milgram(thinking about how the inpatient made him a character and retroactively had josh stealing some 1950s janitor's name)

At any rate it'd be best to keep the au's name because it's been established and for simplicity of tagging and all but how's about we split the difference and keep Victor and or just Vic, like Victor Du'met or Vic Du'met

What do you think? Or do you have any other murder castle names for other characters? First and potentially last Idk

Expressiveness

So I'm tired and rambly I'm sure but a thought has crossed my mind as to why the new Psycho mask doesn't hit right beyond the initial shock of it and to me it comes down to the old saying "eyes are the window to the soul" and how much eyes give away and quite frankly josh is way too expressive for that type of mask and it would give him away

The original mask gives you nothing to figure out his identity, in fact that's the whole point as josh constructs the persona to be so thoroughly different that he even moves differently and only in brief moments were he messes up and breaks character does it hint at his identity

For an alternative that does the exposed eyes look right let's look at smg's other masked antagonist, Granthem Du'met famously makes little to no expressions, doesn't speak and is so cold that even with more of his face exposed he still gives nothing and on the rare occasion where he does the impact is far greater than were he a more expressive character like josh. I get that the psycho persona is different but that's the point, if the psycho has soulless eyes like Du'met then it won't be believable as josh and if the eyes are every bit as expressive as josh usually is than it won't be believable that no one looked into his eyes recognized him immediately

On top of the old design better obscuring his identity, the black eyes made him appear alien and inhuman in a way that's just not captured here

And here I've hastily drawn the lenses back on to show how it could have been and hopefully further make my sleep deprived point, like here the tone is still altered but the original essence of the concept isn't lost, at least I hope that's how it comes across

I like the idea of mixing and matching some of the aus I create/contribute to, conflicting aus aside things like "the evil little family" is an amalgamation of pyromegan(a sole survivor Megan au)/Josh Du'met(josh actually kills everyone and gets taken in by Du'met)/and then the headcanon specifics of an evil Charlie and Hector and Megan being siblings

But another combination that I think would be interesting to explore is the perfect shot/the hector clarke au

That would have Charlie finding his brother in the revitalised little hope in the early 00s, giving them plenty of time to bond and all that, Hector never joins the FBI and is just vibing in town being a historical weirdo, everything would be good and wholesome except for the part where Charlie to hell and can't tell anyone about it

Wouldn't that be interesting, I mean how would this effect Charlie going forwards? Would this lead to situations of hoa character's in little hope? It's such a hyperspecific concept but I feel there's a lot of potential there

This combo leads to a strange timeline where Charlie has killed and/or witnessed the death of multiple people and Hector hasn't

Oh I like the half mask, the Washington's probably would have destroyed Josh's original mask and maybe Du'met ordered it from the same place he got his mask from, of course he'd have to redraw it a little because it's not like he could send the film as reference but he understands that the original design is sentimental so he tries to keep the new mask relatively close

Also his hair is perfect, I'd say between general aging(+the effects of being isolated for the first half of his 20s) and the fact that he's been declared dead, it's pretty simple for him to do all that public facing stuff like we know he's so good at voice impressions that his best friend couldn't recognize him over the phone and let's face it he looks like the type of guy that just inherited a creepy niche castle

I feel like Du'met would have spent a good bit of time locating Josh and then bribe someone to quietly take some sort of direct means of communication, ideally that he could hide from his parents(who won't allow him internet access for obvious reasons), in keeping with that old tech vibe that Munday's cassettes have going for them I'm thinking like a pager of some sort. Like it's probably been altered a bunch(because I don't want to be held back by irl pager limitations) and suddenly josh has one friend in the entire world and anything has to be better than the gilded cage he's currently in

So a question I'd love to hear people's input on, does Josh kill his own parents in order to make a clean break for his new life and to prove to Du'met that he has no other family or does Du'met kill them as a show of his willingness to defend Josh from people who hurt him like a parent should and like his parents failed to do, effectively freeing Josh

These both seem like pretty good options, familial bonds forged through blood and all that

I feel like this au could work alongside other ones that add to Du'met's social circle, like corruption arc Charlie Lonnit or something else I have in mind 😉

I thought while he’s just casually hanging out he might put his hair up- in his free time I imagine he’s mostly working on Du’met’s traps and just doing general maintenance. When he’s in his clown fit he keeps his hair down-why wouldn’t he just use his old mask? Well I think that after a while Du’met would make him a mask that kinda matched his- or Josh would make it idk hence why he would have to keep his hair down.

SO THATS IT I’m working on like a lot of different things for this au so expect a massive photo dump soon 😭😭

That's what I was thinking, like Josh's dad was a famous director but clearly he no longer looks up to him in this au to put it mildly and Charlie shares that passion and of course they'd both have their connection to Du'met in common so the evil little family just works out 😁
